Course Description

Evaluation and treatment of cognitive deficits can often be some of the most challenging diagnoses to address because of what seems to be infinite variables. This course focuses on the many factors associated with learning for the cognitively impaired patients who suffer from head injuries, stroke and dementia. Fundamental information includes anatomy and physiology of cognition, clinical neurotransmitters that affect cognition, different types of memory, medications that affect cognition and evidence-based practice access. The instructor will also address cognitive evaluations, goal writing, environmental adaptations, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and the MCI training program. Specific direct cognitive interventions to improve attention, memory, executive function, and visual-spatial functions will be discussed in detail. The importance of correct diagnosis and staging will be emphasized along with staging training. This course, taught by one of the great experts in the field, will help you to narrow your plan to deliver the best patient-specific cognitive rehabilitation care.

    Great course!

    - Staunton, VA / Jun 2021

Large print size on handout would be much more helpful. appreciate the handout out greatly!

    - JACKSONVILLE, FL / Jan 2021

This was a very informative and enjoyable course. The only suggestion I would make is to have a more designated question and answer period as allowing questions during the entire course of the workshop tended to be a distraction and halted the progress of the workshop.

    - Alamogordo, NM / Jan 2021

Excellent course for dementia or Alzheimer's. I would like to attend a course for cognition and how it effects TBI more specifically and get some good therapy strategies, activities and assistance with goal writing for this population

    - St augustine, FL / Oct 2020

This is probably one of my favorite course I have taken! Peter Johnson is not only informative but he is able to present the material in an interesting and relatable way to keep you engaged and interested!

    - Cleveland, TN / Dec 2019

i would have liked less technology, and more examples of strategies or cheaper/free options used for treating our patients. We are given nothing in SNFs. So these programs are few and far between!

    - Keyport, NJ / Dec 2019

    Excellent!!!

    - McGregor, TX / Jun 2019

    Great course

    - San Antonio, TX / Mar 2019
