Course Description

This course was developed to provide clinicians with a more in depth understanding of posture and positioning treatment to improve patient outcomes. Learners are provided with a deep dive into the most common abnormalities associated with posture and positioning issues and strategies to improve their evaluation, assessment, and treatment of these abnormalities.

This course is part 2 of a 3 part series to provide Learners with an opportunity to become an expert in the field of posture and positioning.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify postural and positioning assessments and how to accurately administer and score.
  • Identify postural and positioning abnormalities and their functional impact.
  • Develop clinical skills related to assessment/observation findings and best practice treatment methods.
  • Demonstrate skills learned in order to educate others in best practices related to posture and positioning.

Wendy Underwood

OTA

Wendy Underwood has been an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) for over 22 years. She has been treating those with posture and positioning needs since 2001 and brings that experience and skillset to the development of this course. Wendy has 10 years’ experience researching and developing course content for various specialty areas including posture and positioning. She is certified in Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction and Bowel and Bladder Health and Mindful Care Certified for treating those with a cognitive impairment.
