Course Description

The need to locate anatomical structures for the purpose of assessment and treatment has existed since the beginning of professional training. In most dysphagia training programs, information on the position, appearance and location of musculoskeletal structures is mostly communicated verbally. This makes it hard for students and therapists to recognize anatomical features on live specimens during anterior neck palpation. This course deals with basic and relevant structures in the musculoskeletal system and their precise location for accurate anterior neck palpation. The information taught in this video presentation is essential for accurate evaluation and treatment purposes. This short course is designed to help therapists locate relevant structures quickly and reliably by incorporating both the normal anatomy review with a few tips and tricks. Although this course does not substitute a firm understanding of in depth head and neck anatomy, it is a valuable adjunct for palpation as it identifies key structures, preparation, localization and techniques for reliable identification and interpretation of structures.

Course Requirements:
  • Computer with internet and working speakers/sound are required for this course.
  • Course must be completed within 30 days of activation (activate course within 6 months of purchase).

The content of the course was not very challenging and was overall redundant. I would like to see a more in depth course on neck anatomy in relation to the muscles and innervated nerves invplved in swallow function and voice production

This was a little lengthy and repetitive but the demonstration portion was most helpful.

Having anatomical structures presented side by side when presenter is referring to those structures may help with improved comprehension and familiarity with techniques.
