Early is considered 1 month prior to the course start date. It is best to register as early as possible so we know the head count of the course.
If you are registering online, by phone, or fax, payment is due by the live course date. You may mail a check before the seminar or bring it with you to the live course. Purchase orders are accepted. We will fax or mail in an invoice to your facility upon receiving the registration. A certificate will not be issued to a participant until payment is received.
Yes. Confirmations of registrations, paid and unpaid, are sent via email when the registration is entered into our system. If it does not appear in your inbox, please check your bulk mail or junk mail folder. It will be from registration@ciaoseminars.com

If you are receiving a refund from CIAO please allow 10-12 business days (sometimes sooner) for it to appear on your online statement, depending on your bank.
Course Certificates received are recognized by professional boards as official successful completion records. In addition, any customer that would like a single document with all completed CIAO courses can call the office to request a transcript. Transcripts will be issued within 48 hours (work days) of the request.

Course Specifics

If you register at least 3 days prior to the course and your registration is paid in full by/on the course date, you will receive a certificate at the course.
  • How long is a purchased e-course good for?
    • Once an e-course is purchased (including Club CIAO), it must be activated* (opened) within 6 months from the date of purchase. Exceptions include:
      • Myofascial Release Labs – one year access regardless of activation
      • NDT Labs – one year access regardless of activation
    • Once a course is activated, customers have 30 days to complete the course. During this activation period, there will be unlimited access to the e-course and materials.
      • Exceptions:
        • Pre-requisites to attend a VitalStim course must be 100% complete before attending a “VitalStim and DINES Specialty Certificate” course.
  • What happens if a course I started has expired before I finished?
    • If an activated e-course has reached the 30 days and is expired, contact CIAO for a one-time complimentary 30-day extension.
    • If a second extension is needed, there will be a $50 fee to re-activate the course for 6 additional months
  • What if it’s been more than 1 year since I purchased my e-course but never started it?
    • If it has been more than 1 year since the course was purchased, and the e-course was never activated, the course is not eligible for the complimentary 30-day extension. Purchase is not transferable after 1 year, and the course will need to be re-purchased at the website rate shown.
  • What if my Club CIAO e-course shows “expired” but I’m still a member?
    • If a Club CIAO e-course was added to the customer “Online course menu” and was not activated within 6 months, contact CIAO to re-add the e-course to make it accessible again. If the course was activated, but not completed, contact CIAO for a 30-day extension (not to exceed Club CIAO membership expiration date).
    • Anyone who purchases Club CIAO membership will have access to previously activated courses for review of course materials as long as they are a Club CIAO Member.
  • I’m a member of Club CIAO, can I go back and access previous e-courses?
    • Yes! Membership allows access to go back and review courses, including course material such as manuals and supporting documents.
  • What are the requirements to receive a certificate CEUs?
    • Pass the quiz/test
    • Complete the ASHA step (OTs and PTs answer “no”)
    • Complete the course evaluation (don’t forget to hit submit!)
  • What is the policy on e-course refunds?
    • Refer to CIAO’s cancellation policy regarding e-course refunds.

If a check is returned for non-sufficient funds, there is a return check fee of $25.

If payment is made by credit/debit card, it will appear on statement as: "Career Improvement."

If legitimate credit/debit charges are declined or marked as a fraudulent charge, this will incur a $25 fee.

Yes. Typically - Coffee, Tea, Bagels and Danishes.
Lunch is on your own. We make every attempt to select facilities that have restaurants within the property or several nearby for your convenience.
We do our best to hold events at properties with free parking. However there are certain areas, especially in larger cities, where it is unavoidable. In those cases, we try to negotiate a lower rate for participants. That rate will be listed in your confirmation email. You may also call the property to ask for alternative parking. Participants are responsible for parking fees.

Business casual attire is appropriate for most of our courses. Some courses are more hands-on where the instructor asks that participants wear or bring certain clothing (ie: tank top/shorts). If this is the case the course description will list any requirements for clothing or optional times to bring to the course.

We recommend bringing a light sweater as we cannot always control the temperature of the room. An email will be sent before on-tour courses about attire to wear specific to your course.
Please contact CIAO at least 2 weeks before the seminar date if you have special needs.
In compliance with professional boards, CEUs may be reduced or withheld from any participant arriving after the course begins or leaving prior to the course completion. Some courses are restricted by the amount of time a participant can miss and still receive CE credit.
This course delivery is a live course that you can watch on your computer/tablet or phone - similar to a live TV broadcast. Participants watching a live stream will have the chance to type in questions and interact with the instructor.

We contact each course participant by phone and email if a course will be cancelled. If you have not registered, please check the calendar tab on our website for all current course information. Unfortunately, cancellations may occur at the last minute due to inclement weather. We will gladly change you to another course city without a change fee.
Yes. A green check-mark will appear after successful submission of the test, course evaluation and ASHA Bubblesheet (if applicable). You will then be able to print your certificate of completion.

When will I see my course and CEUs on my ASHA Transcript?

If you wish to earn ASHA CEUs, you must follow the instructions below for the course type. Remember, ASHA CEUs cannot be awarded retroactively, so it is very important that you follow the instructions for earning ASHA CEUs. Only those participants who follow the instructions for earning ASHA CEUs will have their course information submitted to the ASHA CE Registry.
(Note: ASHA registry fees must be paid to ASHA for the year in which the course was completed in order for ASHA CEUs to show on your transcript.)

Live Courses
Participants must list their ASHA number on the Sign-In Sheets to request ASHA submission of course credit.
CIAO will report all live courses to ASHA within 45 Days after the event.

Live Stream Courses
Within 14 days immediately following the broadcast, participants must do the following:

  • pass the quiz
  • submit the online evaluation form
  • click the "ASHA" link
  • check "Yes" or "No" to Report to ASHA
  • click submit

CIAO will report all Live Stream courses to ASHA within 45 Days after the event end date.
NOTE: Live Stream courses are open for a 14 day period so the ASHA end date is the last day of the 14 day window, not the last day of the broadcast.

Self Study Courses

Participants must:

  • pass the quiz(es)
  • submit the online evaluation form
  • click the "ASHA" link
  • check "Yes" or "No" to Report to ASHA
  • click submit

We report all self-study monthly participant completions to ASHA by the 10th of the following month.  

It may take 45 days for this course to be reflected on your ASHA transcript.

 

Policies and Procedure

Live Courses
Participant Cancellation:
15 days or more before course date - Full refund minus $25 admin fee
14 days or less before the course date - 50% Refund

Participant Change:
14 days or less before the course date - $50 Change fee

CIAO Cancellation
A full refund will be given if CIAO cancels the seminar for any reason. CIAO reserves the right to cancel a conference in the event of an unforeseen circumstance, or if the minimum acceptable registration is not attained.

AIRFARE CANCELLATIONS/REFUND: In the event of a cancellation, CIAO is obligated to refund the registration fee only. However, should any course be cancelled, CIAO will reimburse the airline change fee up to $100 only (with documentation) for registrants only. CIAO recommends participants not book a flight more than 3 weeks before a course date. CIAO recommends participants consider travel insurance.

HOTEL CANCELLATIONS / REFUND: CIAO Seminars will assist in getting a full refund for hotel reservations for those who book as part of the CIAO room block. CIAO strongly recommends participants not reserve rooms through any 3rd part entities since we have no control over their refund/cancellation policies. If a participant books a room outside of the CIAO room block, and a course is cancelled, CIAO will not be able to assist in refund or provide a refund.

Refunds will not be provided to those who do not cancel or for those who begin a course but do not complete it.

Registered participants that do not show, do not cancel and have not paid will be required to pay the total course fee before registering for any other CIAO event.

Online Courses
A full refund will be given to participants who cancel within 60 days of purchase as long as the online course has not been activated. Once activated, there is no refund for an online course
If an online course was included with the purchase of a live course, and has already been activated, then the refund policy will cover the live portion only.

For Auditors - "No Shows" or failure to cancel at least 2 weeks in advance of course date are not eligible for a refund. A $50.00 fee will be charged to participants who transfer to another course within 2 weeks of the original course.

It is CIAO's objective to maintain complete and accurate records regarding each student and to preserve the confidentiality of these records. Accordingly, this policy sets forth requirements for the retention and release of student's records.

Career Improvement and Advancement Opportunities Inc., "CIAO", takes every precaution to protect information collected. All course registrants are asked to submit personal and sometimes sensitive information (i.e. credit card number, address). This information is encrypted and protected by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption software. No credit card information may ever be disclosed or sent via mail, fax, email or other method of delivery by a CIAO employee. All Information collected is restricted within the CIAO office. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. All employees are kept current on security and privacy practices. All participant records are maintained by CIAO for a minimum of 7 years.

CIAO does not share any personal or sensitive information with outside third parties. Contact information (address, phone number, email) is used by CIAO to inform past and current course participants about relevant course information and future events. Recipients can opt out or change this service at any time by contacting CIAO or accessing their account online. VitalStim Provider numbers, course transcripts and duplicate course certificates are released only to the course participant, once identification has been verified by CIAO. VitalStim Provider status may be shared when requested by a facility, equipment sales rep, or patient family. VitalStim Provider number, e-mail and facility information is given to the manufacturer for verification prior to any sale. No other personal identification info is disclosed to the manufacturer.

CIAO's website uses "cookies", which enables us to improve your visit by tracking browsing activity throughout our site. Cookies also allow our website to recognize repeat visitors and certain information (i.e. passwords, shopping cart items). Cookies are in no way linked to personal and sensitive information.

Any changes and/or updates to this policy will be communicated via email, CIAO's website and social media. If you feel that this policy has not been met, please contact CIAO.
